Jersey's FIrst Christmas

2009 was a big year for us. We bought our first house in March and got Jersey Girl in May. Below are some pictures of Jersey's first Christmas along with our first Christmas Tree in the new house :)

Christmas is always a pretty big deal...only 5 of these presents were for us, the rest went to the family!

One happy family!

Jersey's First Two JH Q's!

We went to Munfordville, KY for Jersey's first Junior Hunt Test experience at the Boiling Springs Lodge. As you can see by the pictures, the grounds are absolutely beautiful. We had a lot of fun with The Jers and she even earned her first two legs of her Junior Hunter title! We plan on going back in the spring to get the other two legs.

Sunday morning fog...so beautiful.
About to fall asleep after getting her 1st leg..it took a lot of coaxing to get her to sit up for this picture :)
A very proud Weimaraner puppy! Two legs down, and two to go.

A very proud owner and handler!

A Day in the Life of Jersey Girl

I have to admit, I really enjoy taking pictures AND Jersey Girl was looking particularly pretty, so I decided to get my camera out to let her get some modeling practice in...to take after her mom of course :) I think they came out GREAT!

Then we went to the field to practice for the upcoming Junior Hunter test.
Running through the field looking for quail...
Pooped out after the field
She still thinks she is a little puppy! Good thing Eli thinks she's still a little puppy too :)

Jersey's First NAVDAH Natural Ability Test

Jersey, along with Emma (her Auntie Em), had her first NAVDAH Hunt Test experience this weekend in Ohio. She didn't get her NA title because she refused to swim, but she had a great learning experience. Now, it's back to practicing in the fields and getting her on as many birds as we possibly can before her Junior Hunter test in Kentucky in less than two weeks. This is one busy puppy!!

Trying to get used to the different plants and stuff in the field...nothing like at home! She
has the scratches to prove it, too :(

Watching the judges walk up right before her run in the field...almost a perfect
stack and she's not even in the show ring :)

Standing pretty so I can get a great photo...

"Guess what Mom, I flushed three birds and pointed one!"

Will She or Won't She...That is the question

We took Jersey to the pond two days in a row to see if we could get her to swim so she can at least stand a chance at her Natural Ability test this weekend...after A LOT of work SHE SWAM on day 2!!!

Pointing the dead quail in the water...still not quite ready to go in.

If only her legs were a little longer she could reach it!

FINALLY!! She is so proud with her duck.

Jersey is in no way interested in retreiving the bumper from the water, but she will eventually go in for a dead bird. We are keeping our fingers crossed that she will do this on Saturday for the test :) If not, then we will try again in the spring and she will have one heck of a learning experience under her belt.

Next test: trying for her Junior Hunter in Kentucky October 24-25

Jersey's Outstanding Show Debut

Jersey had her first show in Murfreesboro, TN on September 26-27, 2009. She took Best of Breed both days, earning 2 points, and she just turned 6 months old! We are so proud of our Jersey Girl! Now the big question...which show to go to next :)

Practicing her stack...

Practicing some more...

On the move...

The unofficial Best of Breed picture...thanks to Eli :) This was the most stressful part of the entire day!! It's hard to stack a wiggly puppy who wants to sniff the scarecrows.

Fun Match and Bob Day

Jersey had her first Fun Match on Saturday, August 8. She won her class and took third in the Sporting Group. Not too bad for her first time!! Later that day, we went to a party (called Bob Day) and took Jersey. She was a big hit and made friends with many other dogs, including a Great Dane, children, and a horse! What a day for socialization!! We're proud of our Jersey Girl!!

She stood still for much longer than I expected for her first show! And she holds her tail up without my help!!

The judge loved her...she even gave him lots of kisses! We got lots of "aww's" from the crowd :) And, she was so excited...look at her tail. Can you tell it was wagging!??

Growing Up Showdog

Stacking a wiggly puppy is hard work!! It took some time, but with the help of our mentor, Angela, and my mom, we finally got it! We go to a fun match this Saturday, and her first real show is in September....so you bet we will be practicing!

A little too stretched out, but a still puppy nonetheless.

Me working with her...

Angela did it!! With my Mom's help of course. We truly are blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives that are willing to help us!

Jersey and Her Reflection

Jersey discovered her reflection today in the guest bedroom. After listening to her barking in the room for a little while, I got curious, grabbed my camera, and caught her in the final act of freaking herself out. If only I would have seen her sooner! Now that she is used to it, one of her favorite places to lay is on that bed admiring her own beauty.

Bird Brain

We took Jersey out to the field/pond again today with 3 other Weims (Blaze, Fling, and Jake), a GSP/ Jersey's BFF (Emma), and a Vizsla (Mia). Needless to say, Jersey has tons of natural ability and LOVES birds!! We are all very proud of her.

First real point!! (I actually think she is pointing at Emma)

One of these things is not like the other. One of these things just isn't the same!

Jersey watching and waiting for Fling to retrieve the bumper

Really!?? Sitting in the water!

"You can't have my quail!!!"

Let's Have a Field Day!

We went to the field and pond this morning and Jersey had a blast! She did extremely well retrieving and actually went into the water...no swimming yet, but almost. Right now, she would rather have Emma go in the water to fetch then steal from her when she gets back.
Here she is watching a bird...

watching Emma...

retrieving for Grandma...

"Me go in THAT water?? I don't think so. I'll just wait for Emma right here."

Emma is saying, "You have to come in here and get it little girl!"

Jersey waits for the perfect moment, steals it from Emma, then runs away.

Emma and Jersey running....pretty cool picture

One tired puppy...
